SOURAYA + EDA
THROUGH THE EYES OF ASLI TUNAMAN
The Marcy — an iconic New York underground location — if you remember it.. then you know it !
In this RA+RE Girl series, we collaborated with photographer Aslı Tunaman at the new Marcy to portray her view of what RA+RE babes do at the after, after, after party — you know, the time when you wind down after partying all night and day…. music, lounging, piano dancing, face decorating, etc.
For her subjects, she chose Souraya and Eda —well-seasoned dance machines in the New York underground scene.
Aslı Tunaman is a Brooklyn based graphic designer and recent Pratt graduate, currently working for DVF in Manhattan. Deeply passionate about music, Aslı can out dance the best of ‘em and knows the underbelly of New York’s nightlife inside and out. In her spare time, this Turkish beauty refuels through her photography, music and dancing. Her elegant style and strong sense of self are beautifully reflected not only in her work, but also her personality.
Souraya – This Lebanese-born RA+RE babe is currently a student at Parsons School of Design where she is studying Communication Design. Always eager to learn and engage with new opportunities, Souraya immerses herself in the creative realms of graphic design, photography, coding and psychology. Her open mind comes from a lifetime of traveling the world — something she hopes to continue for many years to come.
Our last, but certainly not least RA+RE babe is NYC-based, Eda. This Swiss-Turkish hybrid works as an independent curator, where some of her most impressive work included roles at prominent art fairs such as Art Basel, The Armory Show and Tefaf and at selected exhibitions at the Guggenheim and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Eda aims to create unconventional platforms where she can merge visual art with sound art. She believes contemporary curating and art are interdisciplinary fields, and the inclusion of sound art should not be overlooked.
